The government is proposing to overhaul the Resource Management Act to acheive greater efficiency in the processing of resource consents. However, this has being met with criticism that it undermines the role of local councils and does away with the community-approach policy. With the impending deadline for submissions, the public are encouraged to voice their opinions on the proposal. Submissions must be made before April 22, 2013.
